Improvement of Shape Memory Effect by Optimizing Thermal and Mechanical γ → ε Martensitic Transformation by Hot Rolling

چکیده
We propose a new concept to improve functional/mechanical properties of Fe-high Mn alloys, by suppressing thermal γ → ε martensitic transformation with proper thermo-mechanical treatment. As an experimental example demonstrate the validity this concept, we tried shape memory effect Fe-15.3Mn-5.8Si-0.24C (mass-%) alloy hot rolling. The showed dual γ/ε phase at room temperature (Ms = 66°C) and poor recovery strain approximately 0.6% after solution-treatment. pre-existing ε-martensite can act as obstacles against reversible forward-reverse under loading subsequent heating. Hot rolling 800°C 70% reduction appeared dramatically up 2.9%. suppressed during cooling obtain single γ-phase temperature. Further annealing -rolled specimen 800 1000°C or 600°C deteriorated about 1%. 400°C made brittle.

First-principles calculations are presented for parent B2 phase and martensitic B19 and B190 phases in NiTi. The results indicate that both B19 and B190 are energetically more stable than the parent B2 phase. By means of ab initio density functional theory, the complete distortion–shuffle energy landscape associated with B2? B19 transformation in NiTi is then determined. In addition to accounti...

Abstract: In the present study the effect of thermomechanical treatment (cold work and annealing) on the transformation behavior of NiTi shape memory alloys was studied. Differential scanning calorimetry was used to determine transformation temperature and its relation to precipitates and defects. Three alloys including Ti-50.3at.% Ni, Ti-50.5at.% Ni (reclamated orthodontic wires) and 50.6at...
متن کاملIsothermal martensitic transformation in metamagnetic shape memory alloys
We show that in metamagnetic shape memory alloys exhibiting a magnetostructural first order phase transition the direct transition from ferromagnetic austenite to nonmagnetic martensite is isothermal. In contrast to the direct transformation, the reverse one nonmagnetic martensite–ferromagnetic austenite is athermal, just as are athermal both direct and reverse martensitic transformations in co...
